Earl F. Eidt, 89, of 227 S. Pierce Street, Galion, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at Crestwood Care Center, Shelby, after a brief illness.
Born November 10, 1914 in Tiffin, he was the son of the late Jacob Eidt and Etta May (Fast) Eidt. In 1936 he married to Lina (Weithman) Eidt and she preceded him in death October 6, 1952. In 1973 he married Pearl A. “Pat” (Taylor) Glasener Eidt and she preceded him on April 6, 1998.
He was a member of Leesville United Methodist Church. He was a plumber retiring in 1976 after 16 years with Julian Spears in Columbus. He then worked for R.G. Beer in Mansfield.
Surviving is a daughter, Joan Houk of Marysville, a daughter-in-law and spouse, Betty and Tony Gwirtz, of Crestline, a step-daughter and spouse, Iris and Bill Libby of Orinda, Calif., a step-son and spouse, James R. and Joyce Glasener of Mansfield, six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 15 step great-grandchildren, a step-great-great grandchild, a brother and a sister-in-law, Richard and Vivan Eidt of Findlay, good neighbors, Fred and Ima Williams and his dog "Pipi" which he considered his best friend and companion..
He was preceded in death by two sons, Francis and Jacob Eidt, a grandson, Doug Eidt, four brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, with Rev. Renae Meggitt officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Galion.
