Clara L. Buchanan, 81, of 178 Sixth Avenue, Galion, died Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Galion Community Hospital after an extended illness.
Born December 1, 1922 in Beech Creek, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Vernon Carter and Nettie (Smith) Carter.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid baseball fan. Her favorite team was the Atlanta Braves. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter #177, Galion.
She worked for 25 years at the former Galion AMCO and retired in 1989.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Faye Riddle, and Connie and Jack Walters; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerry and Yvonne Buchanan, Ron and Geneva Buchanan, and Fred Buchanan, all of Galion; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayman and Maxine Carter, of Providence, Ky. and a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and John Weber, of St. Cloud, Fla.
She was preceded in death by a beloved daughter-in-law, Tonya Buchanan; two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 2, with Bishop Marvin Van Buren officiating. Interment will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
