Ralph E. "Stash" Grubaugh, 84, of 120 Carmel Avenue, Galion, died Sunday, March 14, 2004 at Galion Community Hospital.

Born September 4, 1919 in Galion, he was the son of the late Ralph Grubaugh and Edith (Weber) Grubaugh. On September 10, 1938 he married Rita M. (Myers) Grubaugh and she preceded him in death on July 27, 1994.

He was a graduate of Galion High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a lifetime Galion resident and was a World War II U. S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Francis Council No.1234 in Galion, the Citizens Band Radio Breakfast Club on Channel 13, a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society and he taught C.C.D. at church.

He retired after 27 years from the former ITT North Electric in 1981 where he was a Quality Control Engineer.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gene R. Grubaugh, David L. and Joann Grubaugh, and John L. and Leona Grubaugh, all of Galion; a daughter and son-in-law,
Mary and Thomas McCarthy, of New Washington; a son-in-law, Tom Brown of Ashley, nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;four step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Reindl and Gene Ellen Pollard and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert S. and Shirley Grubaugh, all of Galion.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Brown and a granddaughter, Karen McCarthy.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Schelling officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery where Full Military Graveside Honors will be held by the Galion Area Veterans Organizations.

Vigil services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday during calling hours.
