Wayne A. Seitz, 94, of 530 Biddle Road, Galion, died Monday, March 29, 2004 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Center, after an extended illness.
Born October 27, 1909 in Galion, he was the son of the late Albert Cleveland Seitz and Huldah Amanda (Dickerson) Seitz. He married Henrietta C. (Tracht) Seitz on March 21, 1937 and she survives.
He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1929. Wayne loved trees and flowers, especially the grafting of nut trees and budding of roses. He was a long time member of the Ohio Nut Growers Association and was active in bee keeping for many years. He was involved in farming, drove bus for the Galion City Schools and retired from the former Peabody Galion in 1974 where he was a machinist.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary K. and Ron Graham, of Mt. Gilead, Ruth A. Gifford, of Mansfield and Donna and James Howard, of San Antonio; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Martin W. and Anne Seitz, of Sun Prairie, Wis., Philip C. Seitz, of Galion and Thomas L. Seitz, of Austin, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step grandchild; several step great-grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law, Miriam Janice and Robert Riddlebaugh, of Crestline.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy I. Rast; a sister, Marseena Joan McFarland and a brother, Lowell Bernard Seitz.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, with Rev. Lewis Copley officiating. Interment will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
