Rena M. Kent, 88, of 639 Grove Avenue, Galion, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Galion Community Hospital, after a five day serious illness.
Born September 7, 1915 in Harrison County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John Cummins and Ina (Moore) Cummins. She was preceded in death on March 20, 1972 by her husband, LeRoy "Pete" Kent whom she married on February 3, 1933.
She was a graduate of Freeport High School in 1933.
She was a homemaker and worked at Galion Dresser in the payroll department and at Perfection-Cobey Co. in Galion. She is a member of First Baptist Church, where she played the organ for many years.
She was an excellent seamstress and was good at crafts such as crocheting, knitting and quilting. She made many afghans and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was known for her angel food cakes at family gatherings. The last few years she has been listening to her Bose stereo and was especially fond of Christian music.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Nancy Kent, of Galion, Wayne "Bud" and Carol Kent, of Mansfield, Larry and Nancy Kent, of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, Rick, Robert and Russell Kent, Cindy Voss, Jenny Eachus, Judy Housel, Jeff and Dan Kent, Debbie Lohn and Kathy Pastoria; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, John Cummins, of Rochester, N.Y. and a sister, Mary E. Robison, of Sherrodsville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Meredith Cummins.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, with Rev. Timothy Wingert officiating. Interment will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
