Herbert C. "Herb" Eichhorn, 82, of 1055 Devonwood Drive, Galion, died Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Galion Community Hospital, Galion.
Born May 22, 1921 in Galion, he was the son of the late Herman F. Eichhorn and Clara (Thompson) Eichhorn. He married Evelyn (Musselman) Eichhorn on March 4, 1945 and she survives.
He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1939 and a graduate of Miami University in 1943 with a Bachelors Degree in Business.
He was a World Way II U.S. Army veteran, a member of First United Church of Christ where he has served as a Trustee and Elder. He was a recipient of the Crawford County Golden Years Hall of Fame award. He delivered meals for the Meals-On-Wheels program for 19 years. He is Past President and member of the Board of Trustees of The Crawford County Council on Aging; member of Galion Lodge #414 Free and Accepted Masons, 32nd Degree member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Temple Shrine, American Legion Scarbrough Post #243, Galion. He retired from HPM in 1982 after 31 years where he worked as a controller and also worked for VITA.
Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Sheila Eichhorn, of Lexington, daughter and son-in-law, Christine and David Ulmer, of Bolton, Mass., four grandchildren; Blake and Lindsey Ulmer, of Bolton, Mass, Renee Tingley, of Lexington and Anthony Gruber, of Harrisburg, Penn., two great-granddaughters a sister and brother-in-law: Emma and Bud Heiser, of Galion and a sister-in-law: Mildred Eichhorn, of Galion.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Eichhorn.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2004 with Rev. Samuel J. Buehrer officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
