Bertha J. Mathison, 80, of Galion, died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Galion Community Hospital.
Born December 26, 1923 in Galion, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lyman Chubb and Goldie May (Garverick) Chubb. She was preceded in death on June 2, 2001 by her husband, Dr. Eber E. Mathison.
She was a graduate of Galion High School in 1941 and a member of Galion Eagles Aerie # 630 Auxiliary and Galion Women of the Moose Chapter #177.
She worked for the former Schillings Advertising in Galion for several years and previously was an Avon representative.
Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth Mathison, of Galion, Jeffrey and Jackie Mathison, of Galion, David Mathison, of Galion; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Ronald Barnes, of Galion and Pamela Satonik, of Galion; seven grandchildren, Rick Barnes, Rhonda Montey, Sherri McKinney, Scott Barnes, Bill Mathison, Laura Satonik, Ariel Mathison; nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Eunice Ronk, of Crestline..
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Edward Mathison, a daughter, Betty Jo Mathison, a granddaughter, Jessica Mathison and three sisters, Lois, Doris and Nellie.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004 with Rev. Mel Schroeder officiating. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery.
