Gertrude Crawford, 92, of Magnolia Terrace, formerly of North Union Street, Galion, died Monday, July 26, 2004 at Galion Community Hospital.
Born May 22, 1912 in Bay City, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Ernst Garz and Anna Marie (Dirla) Garz. She was preceded in death in March 1969 by her husband, Dr. John Crawford whom she married on August 2, 1935.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Martha Circle, Naomi Chapter # 47, Order of Eastern Star, the Fortnightly Club and the Research Club in Galion. She had a passion for playing Bridge and has traveled to almost every country in Europe and North America. She was an accomplished seamstress.
She worked for her husband, Dr. John Crawford, a Galion Optometrist and for the veterinary office of Drs. M.E. Epperson and Boyd Epperson in Galion.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ray Jokerst, of Galion; five grandsons and spouses, Michael and Cecelia Jokerst, of Worthington, Thomas and Beth Ann Jokerst, of Versailles, Patrick Jokerst, of Galion, Steven and Kate Jokerst, of Westerville and David Jokerst, of Galion and six great-grandchildren, Matt, Andy, Alex, Mitch, Christina and Abby.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Erwin Garz; a sister, Helen Hill and a granddaughter, Anna Marie Jokerst.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 30 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. James Randas officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 pm Friday at the church. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
