Harold A. "Bud" Vanzant, 80, of 340 Carmel Avenue , Galion, died Friday, August 6, 2004 at Village Care Center, after a long illness.

Born November 22, 1923 in Detroit, he was the son of the late Edward Harold Vanzant and Jane Elizabeth (Dowding) Vanzant. He was preceded in death on April 24, 2001 by his wife, Margaret S. (Smithson) Vanzant whom he married on September 21, 1946.

He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. A member of Galion First Church of the Nazarene; American Legion Scarbrough Post no.243, Galion; V.F.W. Post no. 4329, Galion; Buckeye State Sheriff's Association; Galion Golden Age Club; N.E. Ohio Chapter for Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

He retired after working for over 32 years at the former North Electric Company in Galion where he was a supervisor. He later worked for 12 years as a Deputy Sheriff with the Crawford County Sheriff's Department.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Karla Vanzant of Canal Fulton, Kenneth A. and Shirley Vanzant of Columbus, Raymond H. and Joy Vanzant of Delaware; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, with Rev. Rick McCartney officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Full Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Galion/Crestline area Veterans Organizations.

Memorial contributions may be made to the N.E. Chapter of the Chrones and Colitus Foundation,.
