Virginia E. Cress, 74, of 411 Second Avenue, Galion, died Friday, January 2, 2004 at Galion Community Hospital after a sudden illness.
Born May 10, 1929 in Blooming Grove, she was the daughter of the late Harry Beeman and Viola (Huffman) Beeman.
She was a graduate of Broadview Academy, LaGrange, Ill. and a member of Galion Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was active in church in various capacities and drove the church bus. She loved being with her family and visiting her grandchildren. She enjoyed nature and bird watching. She has previously worked at Quay's Drugs and North Electric Co. in Galion. She has also baby sat many children and at one time worked for Fuller Brush as a sales person.
Surviving are her husband, Vinal L. Cress, whom she married August 18, 1957, three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Lloyd and Ruth Cress, of Virginia Beach, Va.., Timothy Samuel and Brenda Cress, of Galion and Jonathan Mark and Jelena Cress, of Chestertown, Md., 10 grandchildren, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Marvin Beeman, of Galion and Paul and Mary Beeman, of Bucyrus and two sisters, Marcella Mitchell, of Crestline and Clara Needles, of Sulphur Springs.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Beeman.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 8 with Pastor Marcellus DeOliveria officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
