Cassie & Bill

Castella M. "Cassie" Gledhill, 86, formerly of 449 Portland Way South, Galion, died Friday, January 2, 2004 at Galion Community Hospital after a brief illness.

Born February 23, 1917 in Cabell, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late John Edward Nelson and Myrtle Mae (Cremeans) Nelson. She was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Gledhill, December 20, 1997. They were married December 24, 1952.

Cassie wintered in Cape Coral, Fla. for six months each year and was a gourmet cook. She enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing and painting. She was a good hostess and liked to entertain. She was a member of the Galion Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Bucyrus American Legion Auxiliary, a 50 year member of the Galion American Automobile Association and a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose. She formerly owned and operated the Horseshoe Bar and Restaurant in Bucyrus. In recent years her eyesight failed and she attended a school for the blind in Florida and belonged to the Visually Impaired Persons of Southwest Florida.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Garland and Marilyn Gledhill, of Galion; three grandchildren and spouses, Michelle and Ted Talbott, Nicole Gledhill and Curt and Kari Gledhill; five grandchildren, Lindsey Gledhill, Ryan Talbott, Greer Gledhill, Jason Gledhill and Katherine Talbott, all of Galion; a sister and brother-in-law, Dutchie and Carl Hildreth, of Iberia and a family friend and her caregiver, Connie Sue Robinson, of Galion..

She was also preceded by a great grand-daughter and three sisters, Donna, Virginia and Blanche.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, with Rev. Ray Music officiating. Interment will be in Gledhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Central Ohio Lions Eye Bank, 456 W. Tenth Avenue, Columbus, OH 43210 or to St. Theodore House, 449 Portland Way South, Galion, OH 44833.
