Roger W. Johnson, 42, of 636 S. Market Street, Galion, died at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at home of Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Born June 15, 1961 in Galion, he was the son of John H. Johnson of Peoria, Ill. and Marian (Jacques) Johnson of Galion.
He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1979 and a member of Crossway Assembly of God.
Roger was a self employed general contractor, operating his own construction business in Galion since 1985. He owned and maintained many rental properties in Galion. He liked working and getting things accomplished. He was a skilled craftsman, versatile in all phases of construction. If there was something that needed done, Roger could devise a way to accomplish it.
He enjoyed Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, coin collecting and making furniture as gifts for friends and family. He volunteered for Galion Special Wish Foundation and made items for their benefit auctions.
Surviving are his mother, Marian Johnson, of Galion and his father and step-mother, John H. and Millie Johnson, of Peoria, Ill.; two brothers, Jay Johnson, of Mansfield and Jerry Johnson, of Galion, a sister, Jill Johnson, of Boise, Idaho and many friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 9, at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, with Rev. Ray Music and Rev. Rick McCartney officiating. Roger donated his body for medical research to The Ohio State University, School of Medicine.
