Rickie Lee Hammond, 41, of Galion, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Physicians Choice Hospital in Fremont after an apparent heart attack.
Born Apr. 12, 1969 in Mt. Gilead, he was the son of the late Harry Hammond, Jr. and Stella (Parsons) Hammond of Galion.
He was a graduate of Northmor High School in 1987 and was currently employed by Candlewood Lake Association as a seasonal maintenance worker. He previously worked at Core Systems in Mt. Gilead for five years and Gerstenslagers in Wooster for eight years. He was a family man, loved the outdoors, camping and was very well liked.
In addition to his mother he is survived by one daughter, Alyssa D. Hammond of Galion; his companion of over ten years, Heidi Strutz with whom he made his home along with her three children, Dominic Strutz, Devon Klepatzki and Chloe Klepatzki; three brothers, Ronnie Foust of Appalachia, Fla. and Bill Foust and Tracy Foust, both of Galion; four sisters, Darlene Brown of Marion, Ivy Oehrli of Galion, Ruth Javens of Fredericktown and Cindy Walters of Crestline.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 746 Cherry Street in Galion with Pastor Tom Snode officiating. The family will receive friends at the Candlewood Lake Lodge where a Benefit Dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home, 218 S. Market Street, Galion, OH 44833.
